One of the best pieces of advice we give our couples is to choose an engagement session location that feels like an adventure. For Randall and Maranda, one location simply wasn't enough to contain their joy (and how good they look together!).
We decided to split their session between two of the Southwest’s most iconic landscapes, starting with the high-desert drama of New Mexico and ending in the lush, green tunnels of the Valley. The result? A gallery that perfectly captures the full range of their love story.
Stop 1: High Desert Drama at Aguirre Springs
We kicked off the day at Aguirre Springs, nestled at the base of the spectacular Organ Mountains in New Mexico.
As El Paso and New Mexico wedding photographers, we love starting sessions here because the scale is just so epic. The jagged granite peaks and vast sky create a sense of grandeur that turns every photo into a piece of art. Randall and Maranda brought such great energy right from the start! Whether they were holding hands against the backdrop of the rugged mountains or sharing a laugh as the wind caught Maranda’s hair, every shot felt cinematic. It was the perfect, high-energy start to the day.
Stop 2: Romance Under the Pecan Trees
After capturing the rugged beauty of the mountains, we hopped in the car and headed down to the famous Highway 28for a complete change of scenery.
We traded the sharp peaks for the soft, dappled light of the Pecan Orchards. This location offers a timeless, romantic vibe that allows for intimate, quiet moments. Walking through the rows of trees, Randall and Maranda were able to slow down and simply enjoy each other's company. There was no stiffness, just genuine laughter and easy affection. The lush green canopy provided the perfect soft contrast to the earlier mountain shots, giving them a diverse gallery that feels like two sessions in one.
The Value of an Engagement Session
Sessions like this are why we always recommend an engagement shoot to our couples. It’s not just about getting beautiful photos for your save-the-dates; it’s about getting comfortable in front of the lens. By the time Randall and Maranda’s wedding day arrives, they will be pros, knowing exactly how to relax and be themselves while we capture their legacy.
